Who has visited us?
A group of people from our class looked closely at the clustr map on our blog. The clustr map shows all the differnt places people have veiwed our blog from. We wanted to create our own clustr map in class. So firstly they found all the places that have visited our blog on our map and then they placed a drawing pin into the map. Now we know where all our blog visitors are coming from. I wonder how many red dots we will have by the end of the year?

Forces in Action
Today we looked more closely at the different types of force. We discussed friction force, gravity, applied force and many more. Have look at what we learnt.

We also looked more closely at the different types of push and pull force. Mrs Larsen and Mrs McAvoy cut out lots of picture from magazines and we wrote what force was happening in the picture and whether it was a push or pull force. Force is everywhere!

Week Four's Challenge
Teddy Gram Note Generator
Please note you don't actually have to bring anything to school. I am just looking for an outside the box thinker.
Triathlon Winners
During the weekend Joshua and Treyzhan competed in a triathlon. They were in a team made up of other children from our school and both cycled for their team. They worked extremely hard and spent weeks training. All their hard work training paid off. Treyzhan's team finished in second place and Joshua's team finished first. Awesome work. Congratulations both of you.

Force
Today we started to find out information so we can create the fastest possible CO2 car. We discussed forces. First Mrs Larsen asked us, What is Force? Here is what we thought.
It moves things
Power
Acceleration
Pushes things
Makes things move
Pushing things in certain directions
We can control it
Next she showed us lots of objects like, a beach ball, plastic cup, tennis ball, counters, soft toy, book etc. She asked us to share all the different ways these objects can moved.
hitting
kicking
dragging
blowing
flicking
lifting
rolling
spinning
When the realised these are all types of force.
Did you know there are 2 main types of force. Push and Pull.
All the different types of force we stated earlier are all forms of push or pull.
Next we searched magazines for examples of force. After we collect more we will share our findings.

Room 12 Buddy Art
Today we had buddy art with Room 12. First we had to sit on the mat so we could get told what to do. After we got told what to do, our buddy had to go and get the paper to do it with. They had to get a light and dark blue piece. Next they had to cut wavy lines downwards on one and across of the other. After that we weaved them together.
We are going to use the weaves as a background for our art work. Our next step is to create some fish to put on our wavy background.

Week Three's Challenge
After going to the show at WHS this afternoon I still had people asking me 'what is a spindle?'. So I decided that can be this week question. I hope we can answer it this week, otherwise I will have to keep the prize for myself yet again.

Wombat day celebrations
When we did our Wombat google challenge a while ago, we learnt that on the 22nd of October in Australia they celebrate Wombat Day. So we thought we would join them. Some boys in our class investigated it some more and discovered you celebrate wombat day by having a cake in the shape of a wombat. Also by eating lots of chocolate and wine gums. So Mrs Larsen made us a yummy cake, we played the chocolate game and another game with smarties. We also ate lots of wine gums. What a great day!

Week Two's Challenge
Unfortunately no one was able to answer last weeks challenge question. The answer was sand and water. The wet sand is hard (you do not sink into it) compared to dry sand. But when the water comes rushing around your feet, you sink. Therefore, it acts like a solid and a liquid. Pretty cool stuff!

Weaving
Today I showed the class how to do a simple weave. They all thought it was going to be a piece of cake but they soon changed their minds. Its not as easy as it looks. Check out what they learnt.
To make a plain weave you go over, under, over, under (Matt)
You need to keep your paper stright (David)
There should be no gaps. You need to push each strip up closely to the last strip you just weaved (Dakota)
You need to glue the ends to keep it in place (Campbell)
It looks like a Chess Board (Jahzia)

Hopefully they remember these key points when we teach Room 12 how to weave on Wednesday.

Pizza's and smoothies
Last week on Friday Room 14 made pizza's and smoothies. We got a pizza base and we had to put the ingredients on that. After that we made our smoothies. We grabbed a banana, strawberries and milk. We put it in the magic bullet. You had to put your hand on the lid so the magic bullet can mix it. They tasted delicious!
Wanganui Intermediate School
Today the Year 6's went to W.I.S. I did cooking. We made savoury scones. I put bacon, cheese and red onion in mine. They were good. I had one for morning tea. By Dakota`

Garage Sale
This morning at school we had a garage/bake sale and sausage sizzle to raise money for our school camp. I cooked some sausages for the sausage sizzle. They were really yummy. Lots of other people came and helped too. It was a great morning. We have raised a lot of money. I've had a lot of fun helping.

What a busy Day!
Our day started off with use rearranging the little bits and pieces of furniture in our class ready for us to get our other furniture back (we hoped).
Next Room 1 came to our class for buddy time. The students were split into groups. 2 people from each group had 3 minutes to get as much stuff as they could grab from Room 1, that would be good to build the tallest safest tower. After a very quick 3 minutes the building started, some were successful, some not so lucky! Congratulations to the winning team.
After morning tea, we all wrote our weekly reflections. Check out the students blogs to see how their weeks have been.
Ms O'Connor then gave us a visit. YAY! we get our furniture back.
To celebrate and finish off our inquiry topic we made healthy pizza's and smoothies. They looked so good. Mrs Steedman said that we should go into the pizza making business. Most people loved their pizza's but not all of the reactions were good.
Lastly we finished our day off with being introduced to our new inquiry, CO2 cars. Check out the you tube clip I showed the class. Looks like fun.
