The Crazy Science Show

On Wednesday a crazy scientist came to our school to teach us crazy, cool and fun science tricks. He had lots of cool tricks like big bubble blowing, making water disappear, floating balls, mini rockets and indoor fireworks. After all of that his final trick was hypnosis.  What was your favourite science trick?

New Role Models!

In the Lions Learning Den, we have 3 reasons to look for great role models in our class. The first one you can get by Striving for Accuracy. Which means you’re always trying your best and finding new ways to complete it. The winner for Striving for Accuracy is Jake. Our 2nd one is the King of the Den. Which means you have to get your work done on time and be a great role model. And the winner for King of the Den is Kainoa. Our last one is the Blogging King. This means that you have no mistakes on your blog and not messing around with the colours, fonts and sizes. And the winner for the blogging king is Blake R. Well done to these 3 boys. They have been trying so hard. Keep an eye out for next week’s winners.

Haiku Poems

Today we have been learning how to write Haiku poems. We did one about the thunder because we could hear it outside. For Haiku poems you have to have 5 syllables on the first and last line. You also need to have 7 syllables in the middle. So in total you need 3 lines.

Team Building

We have continued to practice our team building this week. We were split into teams and had to build the tallest tower. We were only allowed 5 pieces of newspaper and 1 meter of tape. It was hard to make the tower stand up. We had to work together and share our ideas. Keep watch for our next team building challenge.

Human Knot

Today as a team building activity we made human knots. We held hands across the circle, except for the person next to us. We had to use cooperation and make sure we were nice to each other, so that no one got hurt.

Welcome to 2016

Welcome to 2016!
It is going to be an exciting year for the Lion's Den. Most of you will have noticed the arch way between Rooms 1 and 2, and then again into the old hub area. If you haven't seen this yet, come in and check it out! Welcome to all our new parents, families and children. We have a busy term ahead with swimming and lots of house activities (including our annual water fight). Watch this space for other exciting things events coming up this term, as well as what we have been doing and awesome work by the children!

Noun Wordcloud

We worked as a class to make a noun word cloud. We used team work to figure out which words were nouns.
