Mrs Larsen then asked us 'What's out there?'
Here is what we thought
All about Frank Bunce

Our Tree!
Wow! We arrived at school and what did we find but a giant tree in the corner of the class. Mrs Larsen made the tree that we wanted. We now have our very own tree hut in the class. How cool is that!

Quad Bloggers, we have some questions for you...
Wow, we were so overwhelmed with the amount of comments left. Thanks so much.
A few people asked some questions so here goes.
We are Yr 5/6 (age 9/10) and all boys! Which is rare. We are one of only a few all boys class in a primary school in all of New Zealand.
The bugs in the photo are our 2D bugs we are still working on our 3D, they will be finished very soon. We are adding eyes and legs now. We will put a photo up of them shortly.
For P.E at the moment we are learning ball skills. We are learning to catch, pass, throw, and hit a ball correctly in lots of different situations. We are lucky to have the Intermediate school teach us some of these skills.
The supervised game we were playing is T.Ball its just like softball but instead of someone throwing the ball it sits on the tee. Do you have T.Ball at your school?

Catching the Reading Bug
Since we started back at school we have been catching the reading bug. We started off by making 2D reading bugs. Here are some of them. The boys are currently working on their 3D bugs for us to display around the class and creating a new book cover for their favourite book.
Habits of Mind
Today we starting learning about our new habit 'Thinking about thinking'. We made a brainstorm about WHAT IS THINKING? Here is what we thought.
Music and P.E
Today we went to Rutherford Junior High for music and P.E lessons. We are so lucky. We get to go to Rutherford every Monday morning and their specialist teachers work with us. It was great today. For P.E we focused on passing and throwing and learnt how they are different. For music we had a go at playing the guitar and keyboard. It was a great morning.
Welcome Quad Bloggers!
We thought we would start off the week by introducing ourselves, showing you around our school and telling you about some of the things we get up to.

HeHa Round the Bridges Race
Today 8 people from Carlton, well 9 including Ms Whitwell, took part in the HeHa Round the Bridges Race. They all tried extremely hard and ran a good race. Tarron and Isaiah were faster than Ms Whitwell! Pretty good if you ask me.

Supervised Game
Every lunch time we have a supervised game. The teachers choose a fun game for us to play. They encourage us to play fair and have fun. Today it was T.Ball. We have some excellent players in our school!
Buddy Spelling
Every Friday after morning tea the boys go to Room 3 for buddy spelling. We test them on their weekly spelling words. We are lucky to have so many buddies around the school.

Buddy Class
Today we went to Room 9 to say hello to our buddy class. We hadn't seen them for a while so we thought it would be nice to talk about our holidays then read a few stories together. When we arrived we saw that Room 9 had a makeover. They are called H2O EXTREME. They have a huge blow up stingray and killer whale hanging from the ceiling. There is lots of water stuff everywhere. They even have an umbrella with blow up rings underneath to sit on. What a great time!
Froggy Arrives!
Today was our first day back. We were so excited to see Froggy from Germany was waiting for us. He came with a journal so we can record what he gets up to, some postcards showing where he is from, a little book his class made to tell us all about them and some yummy lollies from Germany. We are so excited that he is spending the rest of the term with us. We cant wait to show him around. He has already met new friends around school, taken part in Kapa Haka, met our buddy class and helped us on the computers. He is going to fit in well.

Meet Isaiah Our New Teacher
This afternoon Isaiah was the teacher. He was in charge of teaching maths. We have been focusing on graphs so he showed the class how to make a graph in Excel. Firstly he decided what we were going to gather information on, Room 15's favourite colours. We gathered the data as a class, then it was Isaiahs turn. He showed the class step by step how to make a graph. Once he showed them the basics he showed them a few more advanced things that can be done, then he gave them an opportunity to experiment.
Isaiah felt he did a good job because all the boys listened well to him and he knew what he was talking about which made it easier. Isaiah recognised the few challenges he did face. A few boys has issues with their graphs and he was unsure how to fix it. I think he was a great teacher. Boys what do you think?

Here are some of the graphs they made.
