Day in the Trenches
We went at spent some time in the trenches, for real! We got an opportunity to have some free play time, a couple of challenges and wrote diary entries. Here are a couple of stories we wrote the next day.
Sam Wrote this…
I am pretending I am a Turk. I am up on the hill taking cover. Gun fire is whistling past my head. I am frightened and I don't know if I have enough ammo. My friends are all dead. I wish I was at home. I've taken a bullet to the shoulder. I need a medic but I don't have a radio to contact one. Then I see our medic running towards me. I' m not alone.
Jake wrote this…
Our First Challenge.
BANG, BANG goes the gun as we try to get the food in the really watery and muddy trench. We only had a rope and a piece of newspaper and the supplies on us. Jaxon says I will sacrifice myself for my team but he did not die or get injured he fell on the ground in the mud. He was all wet and muddy so we had to keep trying. We did not get the food, only two teams got the food. Luckily we got a ration packet and it had a ANZAC cookie in it. It was soft but nice!

Inquiry
We have started out inquiry 'Can we be awesome'. To help tune us in we watched a Kid President Youtube clip. We loved it so much we had to share it.
School Leaders
They have been chosen. We now have 10 fabulous people leading our school and 3 come from room 15. Lochlan and Theo are both school leaders and Purere is our head boy! Way to go boys! I know you will make us proud.
Community Picnic
A few weeks back we had a community picnic. It was great seeing all the families come together, catch up with the teachers, having fun playing games and relaxing in the sun.

Football Fun
Today we had Central Football come to school to give us some lessons, they are spending half an hour in each senior class. We will get to learn lots of new skills over the next 6 weeks. Aren't we lucky!
Keeping Up With Room 15
Well we have been very busy.
We have had a great start to the term. We are starting to put some displays up on the wall, our name monsters, t.riffic holiday stories and our handprint lion art.
We have started our success-o-meter and our maths prove it to move it too.
In class we have been working hard on improving our handwriting, having football lessons and learning more about ourselves for our 'Can we be awesome' inquiry. We created some iphones. Don't they look great.
So come in and visit us and see all the great things we have been doing

Weekly Reflection T1W1
What: This week was our first week back at school. We made some amazing name monsters using crayons and dye. We've got brand new HP Chromebooks. We set them up by with Mrs Larsen's help after that we wrote our holiday stories. On Thursday we went swimming in the school pool. We wrote some goals for the term. We started making lions handprints.
So What: We learnt how to set up chromebooks. Riley learnt how to put up the school flag because that is his responsibility. We learnt how to make a lion from our handprint.
Now What: Our goals for next week are to make sure we put our things away and we don't blurt!

Cross Country
A few weeks ago we had the school cross country. We have been training for weeks! The seniors students ran around the school out onto the street then back in and ran around the field again. It was a long track but they did so well. Lots of the Room 15 boys came in the top 10. Way to go team.
Roaming Lions
We have some Roaming Lions in Room 15. These boys are so lucky. They have proven to Mrs Larsen that they are responsible learners. In class they always ensure their work is completed on time and they make good choices. Now they are roaming lions. This means they have permission to work anywhere in the class. The three lucky boys are Caleb, Zhyon and Cylis. They all have a badge. When they want to roam they need to write on the whiteboard where they are going, they also need to wear there badge so other teachers know they have permission to roam. They have definitely made themselves at home in the staffroom!
Making Spinning Tops
For our writing we learnt how to make spinning tops using milk bottle tops and toothpicks. After we made spinning tops we wrote a procedure to teach others. Check out the students blogs to learn how.
Our Inquiry
This term for our inquiry we have been having lots of fun learning all about electricity. To tune into our inquiry we played operation. It was so much fun and really got us wondering.
During our Finding Out and Sorting Out stage Mrs Larsen has given us lots of challenges and opportunities to use electrical equipment to solve them. We have made light bulbs go, used switches, learnt about parallel and series circuits, drawn circuits using the scientific symbols and even made LED lights go using lemons and potatoes. How cool!
