Weekly Challenge!

Each week I will be posting a challenge. Lets start off with an easy one, How many teams are competing in the Rugby World Cup?

Tell me your answer by making a comment. First correct answer wins the prize.

After Hours - Lets Have Some Fun!

Each week I'm going to post online the extra practical homework I would like you boys to give a go. If you can I would like you to take photos to show me how you get on.

This weeks homework task is an easy one, teach someone at home to make a comment on the blog. Get them to put a comment on the class blog. Remember to teach them the basics, comments need to be meaningful, positive and you can ask a question.

Snow!

Can you believe it we had snow in Wanganui. Lots of teachers brought their cars to school and they still had snow on them so we all had fun having snowball fights. Even Runi joined in. Room 2 was really lucky one of their dads brought 3 huge bags full of snow in and they played around. Check out the photos.

Haka Powhiri

On Friday we had Kapa Haka with Matua Ash. The children have worked extremely hard on the Haka Powhiri. I was blown away with the effort they put in. What do you think?

Striving for Accuracy

Unfortunately there is no one for striving for accuracy this week as the boys need to work harder on their presentation. Lets see if they can worker harder to get there next week.

Mystery Reader

Today we had our very first Mystery Reader. It was Mr Petersen! He read us a story he wrote himself. It was about his motorbike crash. We loved the expression he put into the story and the acting we got do to. What a great start to our mystery readers.

Here is a video of the boys acting like Phantom Road snaking slowly.

I wonder who it will be next week. Thanks Mrs Roberston for the great idea.

Can you believe it! It's finally happened... we have all been waiting for this... 10,000 blog hits. Way to go everyone. This shows that there are lots of people out there reading our blog.

We try really hard to keep it updated and interesting for people to read, so I think we deserve a celebration. What should we do??

Special Guest

Today we had a special guest in senior assembly Simon Watson. He is a New Zealand number 1 rower. He came to school to share with us what has helped him to be successful. He also brought in his oar, shirts and a medal he has won. We all had a turn at holding his oar. He gave us lots of great advice and taught us about setting goals. Simon said the best thing to do is give everything a go, stay positive and learn from our experiences. We really enjoyed having Simon come in.

Chop Sticks

Today the boys were given there last present, chop sticks. They had a challenge to eat rice with their chop sticks. Some were great, some not so much. After a lot of rice being dropped the boys gave fruit a go. They were much more successful at that.

Zip lining!

Today we went zip lining over and through the rainforest. It was so much fun. The highest platform was 50m and the longest line was 300m.

Today's Adventures

Today we went to a market. It was huge over 8000 stalls and they are so tiny and crammed together. It was horrible and soooo hot! There were so many people, no personal space at this market! We didn't really know where to being we walked around and brought a few things but after a couple of hours we were over the heat and people and wanted to go back to our air conditioned hotel. In the afternoon we went for more shopping and it was just the same. There are so many people in Bangkok, 12 million so there is no escaping. After a long day went relaxed and went to the movies to see Harry Potter. Luckily is was in English not Thai.

Elephant Ride

Well today was amazing, we went on a tour and the highlight was going on an elephant ride. Halfway round the track the man gave me a go to guide the elephant. I sat by the elephants head and mum stayed in the seat. It was fantastic. We went down a steep hill. I thought I was going to fall off, we both held on very very tight. The elephant then took us into the water. As you can imagine we got wet! I don't think mum trusted my driving skills. It was so much fun. The guide took lots of great photos. Check them out.

Hello from Thailand

Well after a long flight we arrived! It took 12 hours on the plane. As you can imagine I watched lots of movies. We got to our hotel at 3am NZ time, but it was only 10pm in Thailand. Today we went for a tour around the city and we went to lots of Temples. We didn't know but this weekend is a long weekend. It's Buddhist day tomorrow so it's very busy especially the Temples. At night we went to a traditional Thai dinner and dance. Everything is just so different here. Check out the photos below and tell me what you think.
