Today all of our hard work paid off. It was the school Cross Country. Some of the boys went down to the Gonville Domain early to help Mrs Larsen and Mrs Steedman set up the running track. It was very wet and muddy for the senior but that didn't stop most of them from trying extremely hard. Congratulations Boys! I look forward to taking some of you to interschool next week.

Jump Jam
This term we have been doing Jump Jam every morning. Jump Jam is fitness/dance. We have 3 Jump Jam videos. We will be working through all of them over the term. Today Mrs Larsen took a video of a couple of the routines. How do we look?
Paper planes with Mrs Bennett
On Thursday the boys lunch time group made paper planes with Mrs Bennett. Mrs Bennett showed us a book that had lot of different types of jet planes to make. We wanted to see whose plane could fly all the way across the hall. Treyzhan made a plane that kept doing flips. Jahzia had a plane that could keep spinning around. The one i did was a jet plane and when I flew the plane lightly it went right across the hall. I think Shannon's plane was probably the best.

Our new classmate Mothball
Today after lunch we, Room 14, got a package from our buddy class in Australia. Mrs Larsen opened up the package and described what she saw as a furry, brown fluff ball. It was a wombat! At first we didn't know if it was a boy or girl, but the wombats name is Mothball, so that answers that question. Our travel buddies also sent us a cool book called Wombat Stew, a DVD about Australia Wildlife and a profile of each student. We took lots of photos of mothball. We had a class photo and we put him on our plant and then our teacher took a photo of him with all his things he came with. Then we took him to Room 12 to introduce him to them and their travel buddy Koko who is also from Australia. We think Mothball is going to enjoy his time in our class.

Kingi is safe and sound
Last night Mrs Larsen heard from Kingi. When Mrs Larsen told us we were so relieved because Kingi was safe and sound in Auzzie. We're looking forward to be seeing our new buddy. He should arrive in the next couple of days. We will introduce him when he gets here.

In Room 14 we have been wondering why eating right is so important. Here are some of our ideas. To keep fit, be helthy and to help us think.

Room 12 Artists
Today we went back to Room 12 to help them finish off their art work. All of them worked really hard and got their work finished. Here is a few of them, don't they look amazing.

We also got them started on their new art activity. They used chalk to draw their head, neck and shoulders ready for them to be painted next week.

Unfolding Stories
On the first day of Dare, Constable Tanya said that we all have to make an unfolding story. So we all got 3 pieces of paper. The colours I got we're yellow and green and blue. We started with the title page. Then we had to do pages on our family, affirmation chart, our favourite food, our hobbies, special things about our culture and what we wanted to be when we grow up. Everyone worked really hard on them.

BP Technology Challenge
This week we were very lucky because we got to do two BP Technology Challenges, one on Monday with all the Year 5's and one on Thursday with our class.
On Monday every group was given a plastic bag, 4 pieces of paper, 1 piece of card, string, sellotape and an egg. Our goal was to construct something that could keep an egg safe from breaking if it was dropped from the top of a ladder. Every group took their time to think of an idea. Only one group managed to stop their egg from cracking. One group was very close and one group was an absolute disaster. Their egg feel out and smashed on the ground before the devise even made it down.
On Thursday we did another BP Technology Challenge. This time Mrs Larsen gave us ice block sticks, straws, selloptape and string. We had to create a devise that stuck out from a desk and could hold a marble. The longest one was going to be the winner. Every team that finished met the criteria. Some were long and some were short. One team however, didn't get theirs finished in time. But they showed us how it was to work. Mrs Larsen was very impressed. They were very creative and they worked the best as a team. I wonder what the next one will be.

Totara Wins
Ms Whitwell's Holiday
Today Ms Whitwell was lucky. She had lots of kids away sick in her class, which meant she only had to teach 13. She said it felt like a holiday and all she needed was a couch and coffee to make it complete. So we made her wish come true. 2 boys from our class and Mrs McIntyre delivered her our couch to have for the day and a coffee. She loved it.
Chinese Students
Last Thursday we had some visitors to our school from China. They are going to Wanganui High School while they are in New Zealand. They came to our school to see what we do. We showed them how we do Jump Jam and they even joined in. It was lots of fun. They are coming to visit our school for the next 3 weeks.

At the start of the term we started Dare. Dare is short for Dare to make a choice. When we all started we got told that we have to get all of our work finished our we will miss out on the t.shirt and the Dare day out. In our second Dare class we were given four bits of paper for our unfolding stories. In the next sessions of Dare we learnt about making decisions, drugs and what they can do to you and peer pressure.

New Friends
Visiting Room 12
Today our class went to visit Room 12 to help them with their art work. Mrs Robertson buddied us up with someone. We helped the children to colour in their continuous line drawings. They are all off to a great start. We will be going back next week to help finish them.

On Fridays after morning tea Room 14 students go to Room 3 and test their buddy's on their spelling. My buddy is Dion. When we first found out we were going some of us were really excited. I can't wait till next next.

Kingi's Adventure
Wheels Relay
On Friday the whole school went out after assembly for Wheels Relay. We were split up into our houses to compete. We had lots of different relays to do like skipping, sack races, dress up races, tunnel ball and many more. Kowhai won and Totara came a close second. Everyone had an awesome time and can't wait till the next inter house sports event.
Newspaper reports
A couple of weeks ago Mrs Larsen gave us a task, to write a newspaper report about our holiday. So we all started off with a draft in our writing book. I did mine about me and my cousin watching movies in my room at my house. The title I made for my head line was movie madness. The movies we watch was Prince of Persa, Boy and Toy Story 3. It was so fun and funny. After we finished watching the movies we went into the kitchen to get us something to eat. We cooked some cheese on toast. I wish that we could have another day like that.
