Taranaki Camp
What an amazing camp we had in New Plymouth last week. We did a variety of activities with many of them being the first time for lots of us. Rifle shooting, archery, freebie golf, rock climbing, ten pin bowling, glow in the dark mini golf, visiting museums, inline skating, visiting zoos, Chaddy Charters boat ride, kayaking, Mega Bounce and swimming at the pools. It was fun sleeping in cabins with our friends and classmates too.

School Athletics
Sunny skies and not much wind made great conditions to compete in our events for athletics. All students persisted with each activity and it was great to see so many achieving further than during our practice sessions. There was lots of akiaki - encouragement from each other which is great to hear. Here are a few photos from the day.

Badminton
It is great to be back into our badminton sessions again. Some of us that have not played before are picking up new skills quickly. Others of us are refining the skills we learnt last year. We always love playing games at the end of our lessons.

Carlton's Got Talent
On Wednesday night we held our very own talent quest "Carlton's Got Talent". We had so many brave students who showed some great talent. We had a mixture of dances, songs and even a haka. Some of our boys were involved. We are so proud of them!

Open Morning
We had a great turn out of family on our Carlton School Open Morning. Our families got to join in with what we were doing. In Te Whare Maanaki with Mr Ohia we were working on places in Aotearoa Kupe named when he discovered our land and what they meant. Back in the classroom we did our recrafting of our narrative stories. It was great to get ideas and help from our family. Everyone enjoyed showing their family around the classroom and having them join us for the morning. We would like to thank everyone that came and welcome you all to pop in to our classroom any time.
Keep Aotearoa Beautiful
The week is clean up New Zealand week. As a school we decided to help out. Every class went out and about to pick up all the rubbish we could find in our community. Our class went down to Springvale park. We were disgusted by the amount of rubbish we found. We are now working on letters to the council to make them aware of whats being dumped at the Freedom Camping spot in Springvale Park. We will publish some on here when we are done.
