Buddy Art
Yesterday we went to Room 12 to start our next buddy art project, Shape People. It was good to see the boys working hard with their buddies and making sure they are making good choices. David did a brilliant job with his buddy. I look forward to next week when we start colouring them in.

Learning how to Email
Last week when the Year 4's and 5's went to swim safe the Year 6's got taught how to email each other. When we were waiting we had to pick someone to get ther email address. When we had their email address we had to type their email adress into a bsr up the top, we then wrote something to them and they are going to write back.

I have chosen to extra people for the Wall of Fame this week. When working on our successful person, both Josh and Dean were able to demonstrate this terms habit, applying past Knowledge. They were able to use something I shared with them last year to help them with their activity. Good thinking you two!

Postcard Project!
We have joined the postcard project and we love it! Thanks Mrs Robertson for sharing the great idea. A clever teacher in New Zealand came up with the idea. Mrs Larsen has lots of addresses to other classes all over the world. We write postcards to them and they write to us. We have written to Canada, USA, Australia, Scotland, Russia and many more. Its so exciting, we have received 3 postcards so far. 2 from USA and 1 from Australia.
Everyday we cant wait for the mail. I wonder when we will get our next one and where it will be from.
We hope we can stay in contact with our new friends so if they have a blog we have put a link to them. Go check them out. We love seeing what other schools in different countries are getting up to.

Our New Friends
Last Monday the class were given a challenge, to keep an egg safe for one whole week. Some lasted only 20 minutes, poor eggs! Some rolled off tables, some fell out of their safe houses and some were smashed on the concrete. We now have 5 splattered egg marks on the classroom carpet. Out of 24 only 5 were able to survive. Well done! I know it was hard.

Wall of Fame: Applying Past Knowledge
Congratluations David! He's made it on the Wall of Fame again!. This week he was able to demonstrate our habit for this term, Applying past knowledge. When reading our story in the newspaper, Trail of a Kiwi Killer, David made a connection to when we had the Green Rig at our school last year. He was able to use the information he learnt from the Green Rig to understand the story better and help his classmates out.

Maths
Over the past week for maths we have been learning the skills needed to answer one of our maths questions.
In N.Z more than 1/2 our cars are white, less than 1/4 are blue there are more red than yellow and the least popular is green. Do the cars passing our front gate in 10 minutes match this statement? Display your findings. Make statements about your discoveries.
Today the boys started to answer the maths question. The boys went outside and started to collect the data needed. I wonder what they found out? Watch this space to see their results.

Book Covers
Collage
Over the week we have been putting the finishing touches on the collage pictures and wow stories we created about our holidays. Here are a few below
“Jump in the car Nathanael, let’s go to Briscoes to get my oven” said dad. Dad had a special paper to help find the right oven. “Yippee” I yelled “Now we can cook yummy pizza”.
By Nathanael
I bobbed up and down in the lazy river. The water pulled me round. It was warm like the sun.

Last week Mrs Larsen was away so we had Ms O'Conner. We did some newspaper work. We had to change the head line of the washed up whale. We had Buddy's through all the activities like searching for things like jobs and birth and marriages. Now Mrs Larsen is back and Ms O'Connor is going to get the prizes for the competition.
Last week we...
Last week Room 15 did newspaper work and it was really hard to do. We had to buddy up and my buddy was Dean. We had to do a whole lot of stuff for it. We even filled an A3 page up. It was very fun but still really hard.

The Competition
Last week we had Ms O'connor. We had a competition. We had partners. For the competition we used newspapers. We had to cut out bits about deaths, wanted jobs, news etc. We had to make a graph on how many vowels, conjunctions, consonnants, blends, prefixes and suffixes. It was hard. Some people had 530 vowels.
Coming back to school
On Monday morning we came back to school. We all went back in class. We found out that Mrs Larsen was not here. So Ms o Conner split us around the school with work sheets.
