Striving for Accuracy

This week I don't have a piece of work to show you but if you were in Kapa Haka you would of heard this person striving for accuracy. Darian really stepped up! He was our leader, he picked up the new Haka in 2 sessions and powerfully lead us. Your effort was amazing! Well done.

Our ANZ Ad!

Check it out! Our ad is on the ANZ website. How exciting! Are we a good looking cheerful bunch.

Click on the link below if you want to go to the website and check it out for yourself. You may need to select New Zealand as the country in the top right hand corner if it doesn't come up straight away as there are a few different choices.

Today for buddy art we went to Room 12 and taught them how to make pinch pots. I think they all worked very hard and their pots look fantastic. Maybe better than some of ours. :)

Athletics

Today for Athletics we joined up with Room 3. We split ourselves into 3 groups and had a go at Vortex, High Jump and Long Jump. Check out some of the great High Jump shots.

Kingi's Back

Yay! We were so excited today when Kingi turned up. He spent last term with Mr Burgess in Scotland. He had lots of photos to share. David must of known Kingi was going to be back soon because he made him a bed. Kingi loves it and has been sleeping in it a lot.

Holiday Art

Today we have been working on creating Holiday Art. We based it on the Google Logos. We had a look at some logos to inspire us then we got started. Instead of using the word google we used my holiday. We needed to have a theme. You should be able to work out what we did or where we went by looking at our holiday art. Here are a few finished ones. What do you think they did on their holidays?

Rearranging the Class!

Today after a suggestion made from David we rearranged the class. After shifting the mat to where we wanted it to be, it was all up to the boys. They decided where the desks, shelving and computers will now be. I think they did a great job working as a team and setting up our new class. It looks so much bigger now.

Exciting Holidays!

Well our class along with Room 12 and a few other people from the school took part in something very exciting in the holidays. We were involved in a photo shoot. An advertising agency in Auckland saw the photo on our blog with us in front of the house with the flags and wanted to recreate it. The photos are going to be seen all over New Zealand. They will be on billboards at airports and on posters in the banks. Check out how it went.

Finals, here we come!

As you can imagine New Zealand is just buzzing after the All Blacks win last night against Australia. Just in case you missed it or just want to watch the great moments again I have found a clip showing the highlights. After that great performance what do you think? Are we going to win the RWC?

Clay Faces

At the end of the term Mrs Larsen taught us how to join clay together correctly. We then used these skills to create clay faces. Here is how they turned out.

Clay Pinch Pots

On Friday the boys learnt how to make clay pinch pots. Some of them found the technique hard to do. After a lot of hard work they etched designs in their pots. We will now leave them for a few weeks to dry out.

use descriptive language
use interesting words
use a variety of sentence beginnings.

Here are our examples,

Yahoo! As the crowd goes wild for the All Balcks team that just beat Tonga by miles. (David)

"Wahoo!!" I said as I bungee jumped off a cliff. (Kahu)

Wow, I couldn't believe my eyes when I saw a race car break up. (Bayley)

USA Rugby Team Email

Today we were so excited, we got an email back from the USA Rugby Team. We asked them a couple of questions and they answered them for us. Lucky us! Check out what they said.

What’s it like playing rugby in America compared to New Zealand?
1) Rugby in America is a very small sport compared to American Football, Baseball, Basketball, Soccer and several others. Not many people know about rugby and the National Team has around 3,000 to 4,000 people attending a match when played in America, which compared to 40,000 or more in New Zealand is quite a difference. Plus the population of America is around 300 million people, compared to 4 million in New Zealand.

How do you feel about being part of a team playing in the Rugby World Cup?
2) The RWC is the ultimate tournament in the rugby world. To get the opportunity to represent your country at the RWC is an amazing feeling, and these moments are very very special, as they might not come again. Having the tournament in NZ is extra special because of the rich rugby culture and support here.

Mystery Reader

Today our Mystery Reader was Mrs McIntyre. She read us a really funny story about a farting dog. We laughed and laughed. Especially at the part when Mrs McAvoy used a Whoopee Cushion. I wonder if our mystery readers are trying to tell us something?

Gym

On Thursday we went to Gym. When we arrived we met the instructor, then we played a game called Jellybean. It was fun. After that we got into 4 groups and started the activities. One was on the trap, you can jump really high on it. Another activity was the sponge pit. We jumped on a mini tramp and did a tuck jump. Before we left the gym we played a game with a parachute called sharks and life savers. The sharks crawled around under the parachute and pull us under and the life savers had grab our hands and pull us out. It was so much fun.

Rugby Day Out

Today went had a Rugby Day Out with Room 12. We started off our day creating a supporters song/rap for the rugby team of our choice. Check them out below. Next we moved to the Rugby Roadshow. We had lots of fun recording our own rugby stories and looking back in time. Some boys even found Sonny Bill in an old school photo. Lastly we went to the Art Gallery. We looked closely at Mike ?? art works. We then got an opportunity to create our own. When we got back to school we spent the afternoon colouring in flags of the countries involved in the rugby world cup. We also taught our buddies how to pass and catch a rugby ball. We loved our Rugby Day Out.
