Felts Writing Activity: The Dragon's Cave

Room 14's writing group Felts have been learning to add detail about people thoughts, feelings and ideas to our writing. This is my story.

One time i was on Mount Olympus. I found a dragon's cave. The dragon's cave was hot and very light. The rocks on the wall were spikey and sharp and wet for some strange reason. I has to light a torch to guide the way. I stumbled through the cave carefully, hoping to find the dragon's gold. It felt like I had been walking for ages when suddenly I reached the end. It got cold very quickly. I looked up and discovered I was staring straight into the snow dragon's glary eyes. I feel back with fright. The snow dragon trapped and breathed ice on me. It froze me. I still stand at that very cave frozen hoping someone will come rescue me one day.

ART SHED FUN

2010 Term 1: Room 14 and Room 1 painted people on the art shed. We painted the shed beacuse the shed looked really dull. The pictures that were on the shed were really old. We had to draw our person on the shed and then paint them using any colours we wanted. We had to use wet rags to clean off any drips or mistakes because if we didn't, paint would get stuck onto the wall and it will ruin other peoples work. The juniors painted their people down the bottom and the seniors stood on chairs and painted their people near the top. Don't they look cool!

Getting Statistical

In Room 14 we have been learning about statistics and how to make graphs. Mrs larsen showed us lots of graphs. She showed us how to make picture graphs, histographs, tally graphs, table graph, dot plots and many more. Ater that we had to carry out our own invetsigation. David and I wanted to know how long people could hold their breath for. We collected our data using a table graph and we presented our data using a steam and leaf graph. Room 14 had lots of fun.

Our Swimathon

On Wednesday my class went to the school pool to do our swimathon. The swimathon is when you do as many laps of the pool as you can in 15 minutes. I managed to do 31 laps. I was really exhausted when I finished.

Story Competition

Last week there was a Hiwi the Kiwi show at our school. We were given a challenge. The challenge was to write a story about a fishing trip. It had to be very interesting because there was a prize for the best story. Today I found out that I won the senior prize. I won a t.shirt from the hunting and fishing shop. Lucky me.

Here is my story:
FISHING TRIP
Well.....IT ALL STARTED ON MY BIG DAY OUT. I WAS STANDING ON THE SIDE OF THE BOAT WHEN A HUMONGOUS GREAT WHITE SHARK JUMPED UP, UP, UP, ONTO OUR BOAT. “AAAAH” I SCREAMED. I WAS TEIRRFIED. OUR BOAT STARTED TO SINK AND THE WATER WAS COMING UP AS FAST AS A CHEATER. THE SHARK SWAM BY ME BUT I WAS TOO FAST. I GOT AWAY. WOW! A HELICOPTER APPEARED. IT TOOK US HOME. “WHAT AN ADVENTURE” I SAID. SO THERE YOU HAVE IT, THAT IS MY FISHING STORY.
